Daily Video Advent Messages Available Online

“Prepare the Way” Homilies Offer Opportunity for Reflection

During Advent, the Rev. Michael A. Renninger, Vicar of Vocations for the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, will share a daily online video message based on the scripture readings for that day. The “Prepare the Way” homilies, which begin November 29 and run through Christmas Day, will be available at Behind-the-Collar.com, as well as on Facebook and YouTube. Neathawk Dubuque & Packett is supporting the Diocese in implementing and promoting the project.

“We live in a hectic world that seems to become even more so during the holidays,” said Father Renninger. “Our ‘Prepare the way’ series provides a simple means to pause each day to reflect on what is often referred to as the ‘true meaning’ of the Christmas season.”

“We believe the messages will be particularly relevant to young adults many of whom turn to Internet sources for spiritual resources, but we welcome everyone – Catholic and non-Catholic, old and young, men and women – to benefit from the homilies,” Father Renninger added.

In addition to viewing the videos, visitors will be able to link to the scripture readings for each day to help them better understand the homily’s message. The homilies will remain online so listeners can go back at any time to watch and listen by clicking on a specific date.

Behind-the-Collar is an award-winning interactive and social media program sponsored by the Diocese of Richmond (Virginia) Office of Vocations. It is part of a campaign to provide modern and high-tech online resources for young men considering entering the Catholic priesthood. The website provides links to Facebook and Youtube pages which provide in depth discussions on topics such as life as a seminarian and the priesthood.
